Buddhism helps in AIDS Prevention program

CHAKRA:  Buddhism is playing a pivotal role in China to support the cause of prevention the AIDS. Some Buddhist monks have shaped a plan to encourage the knowledge of HIV and have also found ways to back people contracted the virus in Xishuangbanna Dai situated in the Yunnan region of China.

The Buddhist community in China conducting a Home Buddha Glory Program (HBG) . The program was initiated in 2003 with the support of UNICEF. It provides a place to regular meet at in the Zongfo Monastery. People diverse faiths join the discussion whether they have the virus or not to listen to each other and the monks preach words of wisdom.

One of the attendees affirmed that she has learned to be more positive by learning to accept the disease and move ahead. According to her, learning from the monks has asssited her to live a more positive life with space for much more happiness than she at first experienced.

Du Hanting, Deputy head of the monastery said that the infection leaves a big load on individuals with it along with their families. Children have to face the loss of parents and lack of care when their parents are analyzed as HIV positive. Families are left poorer and carry wide-ranging communal load, which they are not capable to communicate to anybody.
